I upgraded my stock radio with this one. I was originally interested in KDC-X396 ($99 - one without blootooth), but the installer insisted me to upgrade to this and he would replace it for free to X396 if I don't get satisfied. I took his advice and now I'm absolutely happy with KDC-X696. He placed the blootooth mic on the left-top corner of the windshield (hidden) and my friends don't realize I'm using hands-free Bluetooth when I call them. Great blootooth call/audio quality. If you hook-up your iPhone/iPod with either USB or Bluetooth, you can use the radio's interface to control playback/pause/ff/rew AND you can see the title/artist/album info on the panel. It also works with any audio apps.. the radio will simply play them all (I tested Podcasts, TuneIn, Pandora, Music App, etc.) If you have bluetooth-enabled Android phones, it will also do the same (I tested with Galaxy Note and works perfectly). If you're using GPS apps on your iPhone/Android phones and playing audio apps in the background, the music fades out when GPS lady talks and then the music fades in again smoothly. Whenever you start the car, the radio will download and sync "contacts list" with your bluetooth-paired phone. It takes only seconds though, and you can still play music while it's doing it. Overall I'm very satisfied with this radio.
Pros:
Excellent bluetooth audio/call quality.
iPhone/Android audio apps can be controlled with the radio's interface using Bluetooth.
iPhone also can be controlled with the radio's interface using USB connection.
AUX for non-bluetooth audio devices.
For radio, the front panel shows stations/songs and artists being played
For Android/iPhone, the front panel shows artists/songs/albums being played over Bluetooth. (for iPhone/iPod, the same function works over USB cable)
Cons:
The lower model KDC-X396 has the selectable color feature (you can pick a button color that matches your vehicle's illumination so the receiver will look perfect in your dash), but this one has only blue illumination.

This Kenwood KDC-X696 is a great upgrade for my truck I just love it everything works just as the instruction manual said it would. Easy to install I would buy this product again and recommend it to anyone.

This is an all around great headtunbit anyone looking for one I always reccomend this.
Pros
Amazing sound
great customization
the color blue is awsome
3 preouts for sub rear and front
Very loud volume
cons
none besides one thing
it was overheating at very loud volume but may have been a breakin thing does not do it after 2 months
I put this in my grand prix gt the this summer some time and has been great going to buy another one for my ram 1500 an amazing headunit
