In addition to all those tunes on your iPod, the MVH-P7300 will play back DivX video, AAC/MP3/WMA audio, and JPEG images from SD Memory Cards or USB Devices. There's also a front auxiliary input for connecting MP3 players and other external devices.
Auto EQ
It's difficult to reproduce music well in a car, because speaker positioning is constrained by interior space and other conditions. These limitations can lead to sound phase distortion, as well as speaker sound reflection against glass and absorption by dashboard and seats. Pioneer's unique Auto EQ feature tailors specific musical characteristics according to your taste, and uses a microphone (the optional CD-M20) to monitor and analyze acoustics, then automatically fine-tunes all frequency bandwidths using front and rear speaker digital parametric equalization. It's similar to the setup feature on many home theaters, and will let you dial things in just right for your vehicle.
Sonic Center Control
More audio obsessiveness from Pioneer--unless a listener is perfectly centered in a car cabin, sound heard from some speakers will lag compared to the sound heard from other speakers. OK so i bought this for my semi truck, pioneer has been the choice in my family since i can remember my dad had one in all of his motor-homes he owned he had one in his trucks and other vehicles so when it came time for me to buy one for my car thats what i bought. there were quite a few things i didn't care for in my old unit but that was back in 2006. when your in the market for finding something of quality and that supports 6 channels (front, rear, sub) for running to amps and what not your choices dwindle considerably so finding a deck that offers what you want becomes a time consuming task of finding what fits your needs. I really wanted to try a different brand so I did some research but the short end of it alpine had a sick one but the usb was on the back and that just wasn't convenient for me so back to square one it seems once again pioneer offers me or has the closet to what I want in a deck. one thing that I found most common was a cd slot and I'm sorry but going through the chore of burning, buying and replacing disc when they go bad or don't burn right is a pain and I hated that I would have to decide what songs or albums to put on what disc knowing full and well that it'd be re-burned,re-organized because it would depend on what mood I was in when I burned it. I could make multiple discs sure but then I'm swapping disc all the freaking time. so to sum it up this don't have one of those lol. I can plug my ipod in and have control over it which is pretty neat, or I plug the aux into my android and jam to Pandora so those were really the main things I was looking for. I also wanted to plug a hd into the usb port and listen to about 100GB of music (nano only 16GB) when I was in poor cell area and Pandora skips all the time. I bought a 500GB Toshiba drive and it didn't work so I decided to use my older WD passport (120GB) and it didn't work either which bummed me out a bit then I remembered that thumb drives are formated in FAT ( thumb drives work in it) and that both the Toshiba and WD were in NTFS so I formated the WD to try it out and walla works. I don't know about windows 7 so much as the last version i used was vista but for formatting FAT it was best to do in xp. vista for some reason doesn't work. if you don't have xp laying around you can use a Ubuntu live disc and just format it that way. on to function overall its actually really good and for the most part simple to operate. there really aren't that many buttons on it so just fiddling with them on the road once you get used to the layout is easy. the click wheel could have been designed better though and I think for me its probably the only con on the unit. its real easy to miss a center click to a side click which can be especially difficult on bumpy roads but if you can't mess with it on bumpy roads its probably best to keep an eye on the road and mess with it when it smooths out, I mean its music not the end of world if you have to wait a bit to mess with it. the remote you might as-well just throw it out for the most part it turns the volume up and down and pauses it. every other button will get you half way through a menu and leave you hanging so that you have to reach across and complete it. almost feels like its mocking you lol. the display is also really nice on my older radio the display was kind of curved so when light hit it, it was hard to see but this is flat and so sun doesn't really bother it at all. the text on the display is bright and easy to read and its kind of cool being able to change the colors, you can change the pop-out faceplate color and also the background color on the 3" display. I can't really comment on the display for movies cause i just don't use it. it has all the same audio adjustments that the older pioneers have. Overall a great unit and I'm glad I purchased it.

This is my second pioneer I've owned in 10 years. The first had many annoyances that I had hoped pioneer fixed. The only reason I bought another pioneer was I was trying to use my same XM box - the 910. It doesn't work, you need the newer 920 to see channel data, etc. although you can hear it. My problem with this unit is sometimes while driving the knob can be tricky, the remote is still awful - you can't do everything with it and have to get halfway done with a task then reach for the unit, and just the way it works is wacky - like on XM up gets you to channels, but in iPod mode up doesn't take you to songs.
It's little stupid things like this that lead me to think there has to be a better way, the remote for example could easily work better (this hasn't changed in 10 years) and the way you scroll through and just operate the unit is not intuitive to me. I haven't played with other units from other manufacturers, but I'm assuming they are easier. It's a nice radio, quality is excellent - it's a pioneer afterall. I just wish someone over there would pick up an apple product and see how easy and intuitive controlling it could be rather than annoying. For example in the iPod mode going to the song list requires two tricky steps in a bouncing car. Fine on a smooth road, but a rough road could cause you to move the control knob wrong. Then when you are on the song if you would like to go back to the list you would think a simple "up" press on the knob or remote would get you back? No. That's only in XM mode! In iPod mode you need to click, scroll down to list, etc.
Anyway I won't bore you with any more details. In my opinion it's a nice radio that I can't help but think it could be easier to navigate. Pioneer hasnt changed though in 10 years so maybe this is as good as it gets. I'd still recommend playing with this unit and others at a store to see which you like better. Something I didn't do. Good news is amazon has the best price any where and at under $250 this unit is very good. At full retail I would feel a bit cheated. Also maybe go for the 8300. It has Bluetooth - big deal, but the best thing is the remote is different. Has a similar knob like the unit so maybe it's easier to use? Just a thought.

I wanted a new stereo so I could play my ipod, so that part is cool and that's about it.
The clock is ridiculously small and since I'm always trying to beat the clock getting to work etc., it would be nice to have a "one-touch" display button like my old stereo instead of doing 5 steps to get to the large clock display (that they deem as entertainment), I call it a necessity. Then as soon as the car shuts off, you have to repeat those steps again.
The radio seems complicated. I liked just having buttons at the bottom of preset stations. Again with this model it's, pushing buttons, then scrolling, then pushing again. As someone else stated, the Main Control button is tricky and doesn't always respond as you would like. You have to push it dead on or you'll get some unexpected function option pop up.
The manual may have some answers but I honestly couldn't tell you if it did. It is equally microscopic and complicated.
I haven't had a chance to use the video option yet. I don't think I will have much opportunity to be watching videos in the car, but if I do and it works, that would be great.
So for playing the ipod....3 stars
