I had purchased the same model from Power Acoustik (PD-740NB) before (and returned for refund), hoping their Soundstream brand to be of a higher quality. It was not. The 2 unjts are basically identical, as far as I can tell, with the exception of a different brand and product name. The VR750NB has the same flaws as the PD-740NB. The 740NB and this unit both allow for the screen angle to be adjusted, however, the correct screen angle does not stay in memory. So every time the unit is turned on and the screen moves out, the screen will go to its fullest extension, and in my case, hit the dashboard. It just goes too far back. You then have to go to the menu and manually change the screen angle.
The VR750NB that I own now for a a couple of weeks works ok. The backup camera works great with this unit, I paired it with a Shark SHK5199 Waterproof Rear View Night Vision Camera and every time I place the shifter in reverse, the screen will change to the camera input. I also installed the Navibox 2. Connecting the Navibox with the unit was easy. GPS of the Navibox is, in my opinion, inferior to the smaller windshield-mount GPS from Garmin and Magellan that I also use in other cars.
I did not try using the Bluetooth functionality with my phone on the VR750NB, on the PD-740NB the caller could be understood loud and clear through the car's speaker system, however, the mic was of such bad quality that I could hardly be understood on the other side.
I already had problems with the PD-740NB turning itself off, but the VR750NB is even worse. It just randomly shuts down. I am returning it for a refund, have to find a different product that better fits my needs (head unit with integrated navigation, back-up camera input, high quality Bluetooth). Looked forever to find one suitable for a single DIN slot. The reviews for Kenwood, Clarion and even Pioneer products that would have fit my needs were very mixed. Now looking at an Alpine INE-S920HD which means I have to go Double-DIN.

Now is the time of great car audio. Soundstream seems to be a secondary brand not carried by the big box stores. But I've seen their products in several small inner-city shops and the quality seemed equal to the major brands. And of course, the major brands cannot really touch Soundstream on features. This system will do everything but brush your teeth. And there may even be an add-on module to do that too.
I bought the VR750NB on Amazon after thoroughly researching the different models and features. This was a Christmas present for my twenty-year-old son and I knew he wanted something that would connect with his smart phone via Bluetooth and would control his iPod Touch. My son's car is a 2005 Mazda 6 Sport. The normal price for a stereo installation kit was about $250 because the whole center panel of the console must be replaced and the clock and other controls must be bypassed or rerouted. By chance I found a kit selling cheap online for $80 so I bought it. But it was single-DIN.
So I needed a single-DIN stereo with Bluetooth and iPod controls and I thought it would be nice to have a nice big touch screen like my wife's Beats stereo that came in her new Chrysler 300 S. The VR750NB has all of this, plus you can add a backup camera for about $20. The foldout screen seems to be really nice too since it automatically hides itself when my son turns the car off. This will likely help avoid theft. With the screen hidden, this stereo doesn't look like anything a thief might want unless the thief is looking very close.
The packaging is high quality and aimed at the young male buyer with a big "robo-spider" logo and other cool imagery. The instructions are very simple. This stereo installs just like any single-DIN unit made since the 1980's using the provided sleeve with bend-out tabs. Before installation, I had my son watch a YouTube video of someone installing a stereo in a similar Mazda 6. But that was mainly to how the replacement center console panel from the installation kit went in. All in all, it took my son and his buddy about two hours to install the whole thing. And most of that time was installing the replacement center console panel.
The sound is very good. I'm not sure of the wattage, but it's much stronger and clearer through the stock Mazda speakers than the factory stereo was. Radio reception is extremely good. We had been listening to the radio a while and then I noticed that my son's antenna was missing off of the top of his car. They had misplaced it at the carwash, but this radio still sounded great and picked up all the local stations very clearly.
Overall, this Soundstream VR750NB was a great deal. It has more features than you can even imagine. The quality is on-par with the major brands. And the prices here on Amazon and other online sources are great.
And here's one more thing. Before I bought this, I went to the Soundstream website and then called the contact phone number. And I got to talk to an ACTUAL PERSON about their models and best choices for my son. I was highly impressed.
